Kari Derbyshire, RD

Kari has always valued the importance of good nutrition and an active lifestyle. Her post-secondary education began in her hometown of Lethbridge, where she studied kinesiology at the University of Lethbridge. As she progressed her interests shifted, and after taking some time to travel, she moved to Vancouver where she completed a Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in Food, Nutrition and Health at the University of British Columbia.

Kari's one-year dietetic internship was completed in Whitehorse, YT.  During her time there, Kari fell in love with the "northern lifestyle" and stayed to work with outpatients in rural communities when she first became a Registered Dietitian.

Recently arrived in Calgary, Kari is now a member of the College of Dietitians of Alberta.  The majority of her experience has been in outpatient settings working with clients on diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol management as well as weight loss.  She is interested in helping people work through any type of nutrition-related health issues and enjoys working one-on-one with clients to develop a plan that will help them achieve their nutrition goals. Kari does not believe in quick fixes to nutrition problems; instead she focuses on helping clients implement small manageable healthy changes that will last a lifetime.

Outside of work Kari enjoys an active lifestyle, taking dance and yoga classes.  In the winter she spends her weekends in the mountains skiing and in the summer she enjoys outdoor music festivals and searching for delicious local foods at the community farmers' markets.

Kari is committed to continually advancing her nutrition knowledge so that she can provide her clients with the most up to date nutrition information available. She looks forward to meeting you and helping you to achieve your nutrition goals.
